don't look back

Don't look back is a brilliant minimalistic platforming experience by Terry Cavanagh.

  5. How do you kill the dog? I can only shoot him twice before dieing.

  6. The dog ruined the game for me

  7. To beat the dog (Cerberus),

You have to let the dog jump over you and then shoot it in the back twice. Then you need to run and jump over it when it lands and then quickly shoot it in the back one last time. (three shots, three heads)

IMO, this one is harder than the giant guarding the girlfriend's soul. That guy you just jump and shoot in the head.

  8. great game! cant remember playing such a brilliant flashgame ever! ...and i mean it ;)

for me, the guardian was harder, cause he uses his skills randomly

  12. SPOILERS!!! DO NOT READ UNTILL AFTER THE GAME!

for those of you who didnt understand the ending, you were a ghost the entire time, trying to find your soulmate so you could both go peacefully...

  13. SPOILERS! DO NOT READ UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED THE GAME, OR, LIKE ME, WATCHED A WALKTHROUGH BECAUSE YOU CAN'T BEAT THOSE FLIPPIN DEMONS THAT FIRE LAVA AT YOU.

I disagree with that interpretation. Your entire quest was just a fantasy, a hope that if you strove heroically you could defeat death and reclaim your loved one. But death can't be defeated. In reality, you're still standing by the grave.

  17. It is based on a greek myth.

  18. I do know the legend of Orpheus, where he goes into the Underworld with his lyre and brings back his wife. But, of course, Orpheus didn't have a gun, just a lyre. (Not that I have a problem with this interpretation.)

But then the ending... It doesn't make any sense with the myth. I guess he just devised a cool way to return to the opening screen, and then left it open to interpretation. Pretty cool ending, though- really throws you.
