tortuga 2
Mateusz Skutnik brings us a new episode in his point and click series: Tortuga 2. This episode picks up right where the first Tortuga left off.
1) costume dummy room. Top drawer get cord. Egg from window ledge. 2) cannon room. Above left cannon on shelf is an egg. Zoom in on right cannon...egg in sight and one behind cannon balls. 3)Kitchen. Click on your money pouch and use it on the machine on the left of screen. A sweet will come out. Take it. Give the eggs to the chef. When she turns her back, look right and there is a key on top of the shelf. Take matches from the top of the blue jar. 4) Cannon room. Click on the powder kegs. Give the rat your sweet and he will go. Pull out the corks from both barrels and attach the cord (from the top drawer) to the powder trail. 5) Light the cord using the matches. The timer starts and you need to get into the room with the parrot in: back, right, right, up should do it. Big bang! 6) Move the barrel and then 2 planks...job done!
What the cheese has to do with it I don't know...other than the rat doesn't like it. The yellow key takes off the yellow lock but cannot find a key for the other lock. If anyone finds it...
OK...just went back on to the game and I have to agree that I do indeed need my eyesight testing...the plump, black chef has, it would appear, been replaced by a weather beaten, moustachioed, chef. Must be spending too long in front of a screen......
The chef change is completely cool. I think I would have had an issue with the original too. Stereotypes continuing even into video games isn't something that we look at all the time.
As someone remarked in another situation, sometimes stereotypes exist to the point where we don't even realize that they are there and that is dangerous. For example, when we think of a lifeguard, we almost immediately think of a person with a certain look.
There are also preconceived notions we have about the abilities of say, blonde women. Those things need to be thrown out and give room for greater creativity in all media. Otherwise we end up reinforcing false ideas.
Who would I be to break the tradition of shouting 'FIRST...YAY'. Sad really!
ReplyDeleteWalkthrough to follow if anyone really needs it.

ReplyDeleteAh yes! Hmmm...now I get bottled...nice!
ReplyDeleteumm...that chef image seems pretty racist...
ReplyDeleteThe cook character was changed because of the racist issue. It was totally unintentional and was immediatly altered after the reactions of many.
ReplyDeleteOk, that explains it. When K said the chef was a "she" I thougth that K needed an eye exam.
ReplyDeleteI took the cork out of a bottle in the room with the dummy.
ReplyDeleteWhat does that have to do with anything?
