Found "x"'s on walls, got hammer type thing - two things put together and string. Can't seem to do anything now....????
I'm thinking the secret code on cot is North 3 West 2 East 5 South 2. Not sure what to do with that though...

What do I do with the joined hooked things and the string
I went to the home page for the maker and in a preview it shows the hallway. The door is barred. I need to use the hook to move the bar. I need to connect the hook to the string, but it won't. The hammer knocks on the wall by the door but that's it. The second spot in my inventory is empty.
What the Heck am I missing!!???
Throw the bowl of water onto the walls to reveal x's. Take the hammer and knock on the x's the way the code tells you to. You'll find a srew left of the bed. You'l figure out the rest :)
Jason, you are missing the second hook thingy, but I can't remember where to get it. Did you check under the bed?
How do I get the hammer? I have everything else but can't find the hammer anywhere :(
Hammer head left of the cot. Left middle rung from grate for the handle. I can't get the code to work! I've done it forwards and backwards. Uggggg
Thanks - I have the hammer now. And sounds like I have the same code frustrations - it will hammer the east wall but none of the others. Why do I think I'm going to be here some time???
but the hammer head isn't to the left of the cot... thers a filled up hole there but it won't let me touch it??!!

The code seems to be wrong somehow... It will work if you go left instead of right after clicking the Eastern x, looks like N and S are swapped.

I can knock on the East wall 5 times, then the North wall works, but after that, nothing. . .

Knocked 5 times East, 2 times North, 2 times South, 1 time West and the little door on covering the hole next to the cot near the floor opened and gave me a screw.

So I managed to finally open the door, and someone comes and hits me & the game starts over. Does that mean I won, or I lost?

Hammer handle is one of the bars down in the water. Wiggle it for a while. You have to get the cylinder out of the hole high in the wall to get the hammer head. Can't remember how I got that out. Used something.

I have a double hook thingy & string & code ESS21V3W2 and have revealed X's on walls . Have found odd thing flat against base of wall by bed but cannot pick it up. Am totally stuck now!
Part of the hammer is the bar (third from the left), and with that you'll reach the thing up where you can't reach ;)

Night all
The code is E5 S2 N3 W2. The west wall is marked with a W next to it's X. So start on the opposite wall and knock those many times (and in that order) on the x's on the walls with the hammer to open..
the "odd thing flat against base of wall by bed" which you "cannot pick up". Hidden there is the screw to tie the hook thingies together, and then you can attach the string as well.
When you finally opened the door, go back and hide under the bed and wait out the guard. Then you can leave.
how did you ever figure out to hide under the bed??? i had it all up to that point, but was always caught by the guard. thanks for the help!!!
I have the hammer pieces, the bar and the hammer head, but do I need to put them together somehow?
The hiding under the bed was tricky. I had to play over 3 times to get it.
I've been through the game once, but I lost. The first time I got the string by accident and I dont know how I got it. Now I can't get it again. What am I supposed to do?
I don't like at the end the man comes in knocks you out and you have to start all over again :(

Whoo that was realy fun altough it took me about 5 times to figure out that i had to hide under the bed at the end :)

Partial walkthrough
Facing door, click on item on floor to get first hook.
Go R, get bowl, click grate to zoom in, click bowl, click water to fill bowl; click on one of the middle bars to loosen until you collect the bar.
Go R, open pocket, click bar, click shadow high on wall for hammer head. When it disappears, zoom out and go R.
Hammer head is to left of cot(bed), click to collect it. Put bar together with hammer head to make hammer.
Zoom out if necessary to see whole cot, click left end at corner to get code as given elsewhere in comments.
Zoom out, click right end of cot to see under it, click item on floor for second hook, click frame corner for metal part.
Zoom out, use hammer on walls to get screw to hold hooks together. Instructions given elsewhere in comments. Open pocket, put hooks together with screw.
I can see the string is on the cot but I haven't got it off yet.
Then I suppose throw the hook out the transom (opening over door), remove the bar, hide under bed, wait for guard to leave, and then leave.
