#*SPOILER*# If you talk to the elevator lady she will tell you how many steps you have before you finish the game. The aim is to break from the monotony of everyday, in other words do something a bit different...maybe go stroke a cow...maybe just don't bother getting dressed :P
The point of the entire game is to change that boring guy's life! There's no right or wrong, or life and death in this thing (excpet when you commit suicide where you work).
I'm just gonna' lay it all on you. THE-GAME-IS-DEPRESSING! That's the reason I love it! It's just about a sad man's life who then realizes he needs to break from his routine.
So, okay. You go to work as usual. *Start Over*. Now, decide to go left and you meet a homeless person. He says he'll take you to a cemetary. You come there with him. *Start Over*. You drive next morning, but ditch your car on the road. You meet a cow, and stroke it. You continue on to work, and pick up a drifting leaf. You don't plan on going to your cubicle, because you are seriously depressed, so you go to the roof and commit suicide. *Start Over*. Your're probably wondering why you aren't dead yet, so you just save for that by not getting dressed at all. You arrive at work, and your boss fires you for not having a tie. *Final Restart*. You treat evertyhing as usual and you go to work that day. You haven't seen anyone since you woke up. When you reach the roof of your office, you see a copy of you ready to jump off. You try to move forward and stop him but he jumps. *End & Automatic Restart*.
I think this all happens because this guy's dreams' keep repeating in a cycle. So he catches up with it and breaks free from this curse at the end of this depressing game.
i kinda think this game is promoting suicide, so i don't like it at all... plus it was super boring. i get that they were trying to make us think outside of the box, but they should have done something more with it.
I don't think it's depressing. And I don't think it promotes suicide either.
I think the reason the guy jumps off the roof at the end is to show how much a difference changing your routine can make.
For some people, a routine can be a comforting thing. For others it can feel like a trap and I think this is what happened in this game.
When your life is monotonous it can feel like you're already dead, and if it gets too much some people decide to end it just to try and have some answer to it all.
I think what this is all about is that your life doesn't necessarily have to have a meaning to it. Life is to be carefully explored in my point of view, and it's the illogical that eventually leads to a sense of purpose. Your purpose is to be. Full stop.
to Lichen Fairy: you may be right, but I still see it as depressing. From what I got is that no matter what you do, you will always fail. like that guy was late everyday, and he wasn't going anywhere in life. it seemed that the only way the guy felt he could accomplish anything is by death. if there was some twist where it showed how he did do something out of the box and doing it improved his life, that would make more sense.
also, i really hope the second person under your name is okay. To that person: please remember this is just a game. it doesn't mean anything. try playing minoto games, they usually cheer me up :)
I enjoy reading the perplexed confused negative comments posted about this game.
This was one of the most entertaining gaming experiences of 2010 for me. Simple, well executed and, as the comments clearly show, mind blowing for some. And that driving soundtrack of inevitability, of ever increasing foreboding dread, of that nagging sense of what am I doing, why am I doing this? I could listen to that all day.
I thought this was a pretty good game. I think its point is to have the protagonist change his boring life around by approaching his day in different ways. It could be walking some place he hasn't been yet or talking to different people. I don't think the final scene is so much him killing himself as much as it is his subconscious killing itself, meaning that he can start a new life now. I also liked the soundtrack and the visuals. It's not one of my favorites, but it's still pretty good.
All I get is a black page with the game name at the bottom and nothing where the game should be... Any idea what can be done to see the game?
ReplyDeleteOk, so it's working, starting now!
ReplyDeleteInteresting graphics, bit boring so far...

If you want to win, don't play the game.
ReplyDeletehappy new year
I reeeeeeeally loved this game!
ReplyDelete...not the music, though, had Feeder going on Spotify and that, according to me, anyway, suits the game better.
@GABBY
ReplyDeletesorry, i was really depressed that day.
This makes me want to go listen to Evanescence music. Then again, I LOVE Evanescence music.
