symon
Symon is an experimental adventure game in which the puzzles try to reproduce the odd logic of dreams.
It *is* neverending. Sort of. When you start a (new) game, if you lok at the hospital wall, it's blank (with three shadows where something should be). As you solve Symon's dreams, those spaces will fill with... well, not gonna spoil it, but there are three unique storydreams. After that, you can just keep playing, and the puzzles will change enough to keep it interesting, but you're pretty much done with the story of the game.
For those of you having trouble starting the game, you have to click and HOLD the mouse button in order to fade to black. A quick click will just make him blink. If you're not even getting a blink, try moving to another part of the room (there's no particular hot spot, I think the game just registers mouseclicks slowly sometimes).
The power of the sun has weakened. There was an ice world at the season of summer. A warm climate returned for the cooperation of the north wind. Animals came back.
I don't get it. I like the way that the puzzles change but it is way to hard to figure them out. I've had at least 5 different ones and I couldn't get any of them. Can anyone help me with this one? I really like the game, I just don't quite understand it.
A lot of solutions involve modifying things you have in your inventory by using things in the game... like changing colours with paint or other liquids, waking things up with the fan or using the incubator

@ SarahDuck: dip the music box in everything you can. Try a different order if it doesn't work.
I'm also stuck on making the children happy =( I have rose that I can make red or orange, but always sick.. and a bottle of meds that I've already used once.
appears that they have many puzzles so it's difficult to help each other.... I ended up just going to menu + choosing "wake up" and then went back into the dream. It gave me the dream I was working on but with different puzzles and I was able to get those ones.
To change the soup, which I had to do a couple times, I turned something else red (or maybe another color), then touched the dinner table with it. "Spicey Soup" required red, anyway. Hope that helps.
BTW: What's the definition of "experimental game"? Something they just aren't sure is going to work, so that's their pre-arranged excuse? :)
i refreshed the page...think that helped. also, after the first one, instead of going thru the locked door, i just clicked wake up. then i realized you get a message after each dream if you go in the locked door. good game.
I finally finished the game... It was pretty sweet and all three parts were similar (e.g.:you give sth edible to the man-eating plant to get sth else in each part). Thanks for posting Bart!!
I wonder what happened. I understand some key points.
Rose is this guy's wife(obviously), and they had a child. But either bewteen the marriage and baby or after the baby, something bad happened to the main character that caused him to miss his date. I'm guessing a car crash. If they had shown what happened to him at the end(did he get out? Did he stay?), then the story would have a positive ending.
Also: 1: He had lied to Rose for his love of gardening, thus the fact he (very likely)kills a plant in every dream. Rose might've loved incect-eating plants, I don't know.
2: I don't know myself, but did Rose have a miscarrage? The twins, for a prime example. They're depressed because they didn't get born? Or..? And the inductor(did I spell that right?). Did something happen to Rose's child at birth, causing it to be in one? Maybe it got better.
3: The "quack doctor" must be the one to care for the guy. But, I'm guessing he keeps asking him to remove the "blue diamond ring", due to tests that would be ruined if he wore metal, or it showed that his wife had left him.
4: The stuffed bunny, the nursry ghost items(items you give to the man in the end), the book; all items Rose was intending to give to their child. Furthing the fact he says things like "was", it's likely the baby died... The Heartbroken Rabbit was upset that he was never going to be given.
Other than that, some things are more clear. He or Rose has a brother/sister that has childern and they live near-by, noting why he knows about the fence and treehouse. The frog was from his past; he either jumped or harmed the frog meaningfully, which resulted on the handicapped creature(crutches, bandages), and he was cold because he died(?) The dinner points towards -how- he ended up in the hospital.
Of course, I'm just saying this. Call it what you like, but this fills the gaps for me.
stange i dont get it! bart, help?

How do you make the things be heartbroken?
