the last survivor

You're the last survivor of your species and you have been rendered into an unspecified green object, so please return to your true form in the short puzzle platformer the last survivor by Benn Powell, an entry for the 48hour Ludum Dare 20 competition.

  1. Nice game, sometimes easy, sometimes puzzling. Nice to have a sort break from the daily routine.

  3. I'm so stuck! (did you figure out how to achieve the level where you have 1 little block + 1 long block and you're supposed to come across the entire room? on the bottom there are 2 lasers on the left, 2 on the middle and 4 on the right) My green shape can't jump high enough. help!

  4. Total stuck when I get the first object. I have dragged it to the corner - to make a step - but the little green thing can't jump high enough to get on it? please help

  5. Hey guys, sorry about the stuck problems, I've noticed there is a bug where you cannot jump as high if the game is running at a lower fps - I am fixing it right now, sorry :(

  12. I loved the game - it was just too short. :/

  13. Great game. Took me a little while to figure out how to put those blocks together at the end and climb up, but that was part of the fun of it :)

  14. Great little game. We want more levels!

  15. Very impressive for a game completed in 48 hours. Any thoughts of expanding it in your free time? I'd love to see a longer adventure in this style!

  17. Does anyone else feel like the green thing kinda looks like a pickle? I feel like I'm a pickle! Hehe :D

  18. Angela, certainly sounds like you've found yourself in a pickle.

    Fun game.

  19. Well, that was a rather... disappointing? ending. Hehe. Fun game though.
    DESTROY!

  20. Okay for a 48-hour game. Trouble is, there's literally *zero* challenge in this game until the very last level. The last level was fun, but I feel like the rest of the game was pure padding.

  21. Neat. Proof that a satisfying game doesn't need a hardware-accelerated, depth-buffered, mip-mapped, three-dimensional, photo-realistic virtual reality to be fun.

Agreed that the early levels are not too challenging. However, casual puzzlers work best for me when, instead of instructions, the first few levels are really "training" levels, where I learn the basics. This seemed to be one of those. (Also, if this really only took 48 hours, I'm deeply impressed that the levels are as good, and as incrementally difficult, as they are.)

What a wonderful contribution to the pastimes of the world.

  22. Thanks for all the brilliant feedback guys :)

  23. Great game! Only thing I would suggest is a reset button, because on one of the levels, if you don't land on the platform you build, you end up on the other side of the lasers, and can't get out.

Stuck on the stairs one now.

  24. thank you, benn... for both the game and the fix! that was fun :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oy... I'm stuck on the stair level... which I guess is the last level from what I've read.... I can't get past it!!!!

  26. Try to arrange it so that the big pieces are on the bottom and the little ones on top. Remember that you can stack pieces just barely touching on the side. In reality gravity would take over, but here they stay put and leave you a nice platform to jump on.
Quick and very easy game. Very enjoyable. Thanks Benn and Bart! :)
