Time for an update on my recent game 14 locks: The game is almost 2 weeks old now and it's doing really well. It did get some nice reviews like this one on EDGE. In the meantime I also did some changes to the controls, so the mouse should now be less sensitive and movement faster.
Now, if you enjoyed '14 locks' and want to support it, here's a couple of things you can do to help me:
- I just put the game live on Kongregate, so if you are a Kongregate member, please have a look at '14 locks' over here and give it a nice rating, thanks!
- This week '14 locks' was nominated 'free indie of the week' in the popular indie games video podcast Bytejacker. You can watch that video podcast here. Please vote for '14 locks' in the right bottom of the page to make it the free indie of the week. You don't have to log in or anything, just go here, select 14locks and vote, thanks so much :)
Right then, time to start coding another bontegame, cheers!
voted 5 stars on Kongregate: done
ReplyDeletevoted for indie of the week: done
:-)
done and done!
ReplyDeleteWell done Bart. I'd love to see the game open up a whole new way of making escape-the-room games, so instead of switching between static screens like we do they could be much more exploratory.
ReplyDeleteI tried to vote for 14locks, but the page doesn't completely load for me...
ReplyDeleteDone, voted! I like your work Bart.
ReplyDeleteBut...I 'm stuck at the 3rd room! Can't find the code for the door. grrrrr
Voted and loved the game! I agree with Niall; I would love to see more escape-the-room games like this.
ReplyDeletedone and done.
ReplyDeletedon't thank us Bart, we thank you!
Not done, and DONE :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Kongregate member but I gave you my indie vote :)
Too bad they don't show you the progress of the vote after you are done voting. I'd like to see where we are at in the race!
PS: Played it again two days ago and it was just as much fun as the first time. I never had control issues, but I might play it again now just to see what's different.
Anna: Look closely at the three columns in the room.
ReplyDeleteI can't see a difference, Bart. But then again maybe it was my age old computer slowing things down for me the first time around.
I'm not on Kongregate too, but I obviously indie-voted for you!
ReplyDelete14 locks: played; sissy's ponycorns: played. Now I'm curious about that officer... :D
i cant instal unity
ReplyDeleteI'm not on Kongregate but I voted on the other site. Although it was a tough choice. I really loved Magical Ponycorn Adventure.
ReplyDeleteClicking "here" took me to bytejacker.com It's a dark as hell page where you can't read ANYTHING and I sure can't see anywhere to vote??!!
ReplyDeleteI've played it again, and loved it again! Voted for indie of the week!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the recognition Bart!
ReplyDeleteI still don't like "14 locks" or "Sissy's Ponycorn Adventure". Both were epic fails!
ReplyDeleteI sure would vote for you if only I COULD play the game!
ReplyDeleteI can move around ok, but nothing happens when I enter the code into the keypad.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to pass on this one. :0(
You have to click the code with the mouse
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat, Bart! Well done! Am black and blue from banging into the walls. LOL!
ReplyDeleteHey Bart how the hell do you vote? I had the same problem as Anonymous "18:53" dark page etc. Seen nothing but that. Seems you could have had 2 more votes had you explained what the problem was with this bytejacker.com page? Any help?
ReplyDeleteHey Bart! I don't know what you did to change it so much was but it made it work for me!!! It still freezes up... but i think that is because of my computer not being able to hold up the game because it is such a big game. Other than that, GREAT game Bart!
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone who votes! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know what could be wrng with the bytejacker page, it works fine now ...
14 locks is a good game, I regularly check bart's games out, even my kids enjoy them (with a little help from adults). thanks Bart
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is up with this bytejacker page...I see a video box at the top and it's all dark? I can't read or see the words I don't see anywher to vote i.e. cause I can't see a damn thing1 How the hell are you supposed to vote?!
ReplyDeleteThe Bytejacker voting is over, the ponycorns won of course
ReplyDeleteRegardless that the voting is over....why is the page so DARK? You can't read/see any of the words and can only assume that they are forum notes and comments? The only reason I know this is because I held left click and pulled over the words to turn them blue as if to copy and paste them.
ReplyDeleteI don't see that problem. Perhaps you're using an older browser, or is it just the grey text you can't read, then perhaps you should turn up your contrast.

Next game title...Kill the Ponycorns!!
the mouse speed is still way too fast. I dont understand how you yourself are not getting annoyed by it. Is there even a real speed setting in unity, cause iv played another 3D game that also was as fast and annoying
ReplyDeleteAlso, on another topic, unity wont let my magic trackpad work, or my usb wireless mouse, only my mac's magic mouse works. I know you dont have any really control over this, but it still bugs me. Other than that and my last post. I love the concept and design, gives a great new twist to classic escape type games
ReplyDeleteliked the game and the mention of Factory Balls 4 in the credits. so whens the game gonna come out? like how many months? just cant wait for it to come out

ReplyDeleteYou hit it out of the park with this one Bart. Best game yet you have done.
ReplyDelete@randomguy I'm not having problems with the mouse sensitivity, and it's not easy to change this in Unity. I think you will find this sensitivity in any first person game. I would love to hear about first person games that have 'better' controls.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this one is out of the park. I hate having to download new software each time a new game comes, either this site or others, and Unity doesn't do it for me. If I were to rate it on a fair level, I'd say 4/10.
ReplyDeleteA little irony that this site hosted the Ponycorns game then the two games (ponycorns and 14locks) got pitted against each other the same week and the ponycorns took the prize. Just goes to show people are suckers for a cute voice and a not so challenging game. But what 5 year old uses the word "friggin" ???
ReplyDeleteThe guy in the hallway doing his podcast weirds me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy eyes hurt now. God that game makes my head really spin. But AWESOME GAME!!!!!
ReplyDeleteReally liked the game, but still cant wait for Factory Balls 4
ReplyDeletei'm stuck on 6locks.can you give me the code? i do love this game!!!
ReplyDeleteit was great (even though i got stuck on the one with all the holes in the walls and had to use the walkthrough)! The sky was so nice.... I stayed until "cheers" and waited a while, but nothing was forthcoming.
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd play some of your older games, but it seems that the old Unity add-in no longer works. Is there any way to play this game?
ReplyDeleteAre you using Chrome? Yes the unity webplayer no longer works in Chrome, but it should work with another browser like Firefox.
ReplyDeleteHeya! I like the design from walkthroughs and such, but I want to play the game for myself. Is there any way I can play this game as an HTML5 game instead of Unity? I don't have straight access to other browsers, and Unity no longer is supported on Google Chrome as you said in @JaronFlick's comment.
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance.
