grey
Grey, the story of a boy and the girl of his dreams by Kevin McGrath.
it takes much less than an hour to finish and it's very nice. i thought there might be a twist somewhere, bit disappointed there wasn't. but i enjoyed it's moral about the folly of trying to please women.
Interesting. My take is very different than some of the others here as to the "story" being told in the game.
Given that the yellow flower came from a grave and he was unable to "get her attention" from the very beginning, my take was that he was a ghost and he was bringing her all the good memories of their former life together. Hence the colors returning to her world and her release of the dove, a simple but apt symbol for the lifting of her mood from depression to a fond nostalgia.
Good game, but i wish the ending wasn't so obvious after the flower. If they had found a way to hold on to that reveal a little longer it would have been great.
Also the slowness of the character was a little on the annoying side but not to bad.
So beautiful and sad.. I had the same view of the idea of the game as k. I only got the flower near the end which was nice.. Initially I was thinking he was cheering her up about someone else who had died until the end.. Sweet little game
I loved it. Very much. Not sad. -k rules. I was only sad when I finally noticed the white arrow pointing towards the girl... I was enjoying myself so much by getting so terribly lost!
The atmosphere is nice, but that doesn't make up for the fact that there's no gameplay. There wasn't a single point in the game that needed skill or problem solving. Boring.
i didn't really think about the story while i was playing the game but the ending just left me feeling empty and depressed as if a part of me was departing from somewhere in my chest and the music didn't help. i liked the story about the ghost cheering up his girlfriend. it made me feel better.
Some years ago - I have no idea, when exactly or even roughly ;), just have the feeling it was BEFORE you posted this Grey game here - I told you about a game called Gray or Grey I was then surprised not to find on your website. You told me then that it IS on your website, as far as I remember. I couldn't find it. I also couldn't find another game called Grey or Gray, respectively on it. At least I don't remember finding it there. So today, on my way through all of your posts, I suddenly find a game called Grey there. (The one this blog belongs to.) I don't know what game you had in mind when you told me it is already on your website but anyway I post a link here to the Gray Game I meant back then.
Ah yes Playerette, I remember :) And this Grey game of this post was the game I ment. But your link does not seem to work, getting error 522 every time, so I still don't know what Gray game you mean...
Link works fine for me (copy and "paste and go" in the address bar). I found the game via google image search "gray game", fifteenth image, the little half black half white anthropomorphic guy.
Yay I'm first!
ReplyDeleteDouble yay! I suggested this game!

No one cares if you're first (:
ReplyDeleteI don't like this game... The ambiance and the music are nice, but... It's so boring!
ReplyDeleteSO sad. I enjoyed this game.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, but so sad!
ReplyDeleteCute game, yes, it's a little slow, but sometimes that's a good thing. like today... was in no mood for a fast-paced game. Nice and relaxing!
ReplyDeleteWay too slow...it would take an hour(s) plus to finish that...not wasting anymore time on it!

Now I'm very sad........
ReplyDeleteI like the game but it's definitely not a happily ever after ending.
That was a very sad ending. He gave his life for her.....
ReplyDeleteInteresting. My take is very different than some of the others here as to the "story" being told in the game.

@-k Well said. This was a sad but beautiful game. The guy is a ghost trying to cheer up his depressed girlfriend by bringing back color into her life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little game, i loved the music too!
ReplyDeleteAargh. I hate jumping games.
ReplyDeleteloved it! cute game but sad at the end because he died :( took me about 20 or 30 or 10 minutes to finish.
ReplyDeleteGood game, but i wish the ending wasn't so obvious after the flower. If they had found a way to hold on to that reveal a little longer it would have been great.

ReplyDeleteNice game. Nice interpretations. I like the music.
ReplyDeleteAt first I saw it as he was "losing" himself by doing all that. The idea that he is a ghost to cheer her up is great.
This game is slow and it lags ALOT!
ReplyDeletelove it ^^
ReplyDeletecute <3
ReplyDeleteSaaad game! :) I'm for the ghost interpretation, by the way... the first I thought about, actually! But the other one is suitable too, I think.
ReplyDeleteit was so simple and so quick but i liked it! thanks bart!
ReplyDeletei love -k's thinking soooo much... it was soooo sad though...
ReplyDeleteThe whole "flower giving it away" worked out perfectly for me, as I encountered yellow last.
ReplyDeleteAll in all, it was a relaxing game with amazing music.
Nice. Relaxing. Enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI loved it. Very much.
ReplyDeleteNot sad.
-k rules.
I was only sad when I finally noticed the white arrow pointing towards the girl... I was enjoying myself so much by getting so terribly lost!

ReplyDeletea real beauty with wonderfully sad music. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThe atmosphere is nice, but that doesn't make up for the fact that there's no gameplay. There wasn't a single point in the game that needed skill or problem solving. Boring.

Hi again
ReplyDeletewww.flasharcade.com
Select ARCADE (where you could also select SPORTS or ACTION or PUZZLE), sort by NAME A-Z, there it is on page 27 of 67 in the fourth row.
@Marie Today flasharcade seems to be reachable, seems like a nice game, I'll check it out. But I hate it when a game does not support the cursor keys.
