a game about game literacy
Do not play this one if you don't like your platformer game hard: a game about game literacy by Damian Sommer.

Seems like nice game. But like so often: this game didn't save progress :(
I'm not willing to start all over again.
Beat it! A fun set of exercises!
I like the idea that the author was taking apart traditional platformers and presenting them as a minimalist series of problems. They were a bit on the easy side, I feel, but it made me think about the different types of platformer problems and how that can apply to game design:
1. Speed Problems: Finish as fast as you can.
2. Puzzle Problems: The solution may be simple, but requires contemplation.
3. Dexterity Problems: Needs precise timing of complex keystrokes (i.e.jumping through rings of fire).
I think those three in combination make up the essence of problems in platformers. Can anyone think of any other types?
4. Endurance: Some have a complex set of problems, which can get repetitive and need therefore a certain amount of endurance.
Sweep - If you think they were on the easy side, I have to ask if you're sure you didn't fall for the fake ending. There are many levels past "The End," and the last jump on the CrossCrossCross level has just about defeated me. I agree that a save function would be nice.
Nice game, though I can't seem to beat the last level "mini story". Anyone tips on how to reach the other character way up top? I keep tumbling down.
Erm.. I am stuck. In the first screen I can push left and right as much as I want and the turtle is not moving. Am I missing something???
its not the turtle that moves...
Did someone really get the last jump at level "crosscrosscross"? Please help, my fingers are already hurting :)
That was really the last jump and I did it! SUPER FUN VICTORY RAVE DANCE PARTY TIME ;)
cant do 'you can have two' level HELP please
@ Isi : The SUPER FUN VICTORY RAVE DANCE PARTY TIME is not the end
Made it to Mini-Story and decided to quit. It was fun and I liked the animation style, but I'm not a fan of Dexterity challenges. Thanks for sharing this one!
I made it to CROSSCROSSCROSS before giving up. It was easy up until that point, but I didn't have enough patience to get past that level. >:(
Its too slow for me. Or at least it seems too slow for me. :) cute though.
Hmmmm....... I made it to the "You Can Have Two" level. I couldn't get past that one.
"Crosstrianglecross" has me stumped.. Is it possible to make that jump? :/
Oh, duh... Jump AFTER you're off the ledge. -___-
Crosscrosscross confuses me...
Ugh, it was easy up until crosscrosscross.
Still the rest of the game was nice though.
Ok, after level CrossCrossCross it says: "You win! Super Fun Victory Rave Dance Party Time!"
So if this is not the end, how can i get to the next levels? Can´t find anything to click...

maybe you mean level SuperHappyFunRaveTime ;)
ore,
I found CrossCrossCross mildly difficult. I think what makes it harder is being faced with a bunch of easy problems and then a sudden transition to something that requires a bit of thought and observation.
Sorry Isi, i didn't know that it was the crosscrosscross end...
Fun, but "Super Happy Fun Rave" or whatever it was made me quit. Too many flashing lights for me, thanks. Shame- I was rather enjoying it.
CrossCrossCross was realy dificult in my opinion. An the trick is not obvious. So, here comes the spoiler (sorry Bart, I don't remember the code for properly posting a spoiler...): The problem with this level ist the last jump. If you are standing on the highes square and jump up three times, you realise, it is impossible to reach the turtle. But you don't have to! There is a little edge under the platform with the turtle. Jump towards it, and to reach it, collect the last boost. From thist edge you can now easily reach the turtle.
I thought I could handle this...I couldn't. I haven't been so frustrated at a game in a while.
