alone in the light
Alone in the light: an arctic adventure about being alone in a world falling apart, by Chelsea Howe and Michael Molinari.
didn't really like this one. level design is alright but movement is glitchy, and lags very much near the end of the game. also, the song at the end composed of the seven "notes" wasn't nearly as compelling as I think it was supposed to be... idk, maybe i'm being harsh, but not one of my favs.
Wow. So beautiful. I loved the text at the end. I really love these designers' games. Their games are lovely and thought-provoking. I adore To what end and, while Alone in the light was not quite as good, I still loved this one.
I'm not a huge fan of The end of us, though, because it's too sad.
I love this game! The only problem that I have is just that the screen moves when I use the down arrow. Is there another link to the game where that is fixed?
For me it was all perfect and beautiful. No glitching, no scroling, no lagging...nothing to complain about. Sorry for all those who are experiencing problems with this game, because I had a very good time exploring the lovely environment as a polar bear. I loved diving deeper and deeper, I loved jumping and feeling the bear's weight. Fantastic noises too. I'm still keeping the polar wind as a background sound for the evening. Thanks to the game creators and, as usually, thank to Bart, who brought this game to us!
I too have the scrolling screen when I try and use the arrow keys..gonna have to pass on this one unless someone has a solution, and no clicking on the screen didn't make it stop as someone else above mentioned.
I enjoyed this one, though wish there had been an easier way of "tracking" the shards - often singing to find them lead you to another that was further away than one you were very close to. Thanks for sharing this with us, Bart!
it would be AWESOME if you could see what's below you before you jump off the cliff, miss the next step, fall, and have to start over yet again. also it would be nice to have a way to sing in the water.
As usual, I'm a little late on commenting this, but in case anyone cares to read this, I thought the the music and animation was beautiful at the end! Especially when you got to jump on the clouds after finding all the shards! Although the game was VERY glitchy and lagged almost the whole time, it was somewhat worth it to me, but definitely annoying when I found out the world was a circle. Therefore, when I went right--technically speaking--I was going left. Also, for those who are having trouble with the arrow keys, you can also use 'a w s d' instead. Another tip: you can always right click to use a low quality for less lag, but I have to admit: swimming deeper and deeper was a little scary because drowning is one of my greatest fears. Nice game!
Loved it. Yes it might not be perfect, but I love these alternative designed games. I also liked the ending. Proofs that bears are not meant to fly :-)
Beautiful game... I love the design <3

ReplyDeleteWhy does the screen scroll when I try to use the arrow keys to move?
ReplyDelete@Ano first click on the game, then use the arrow keys. Lovely game btw!
ReplyDelete(I'm a different Anonymous)
ReplyDeleteClicking on the game before using the down key isn't helping.
I was having problems moving too, it got very glitchy the longer you held down a button. But it was a beautiful game.

Clicking on the game b4 using the keys had no effect it still scrolls the screen.
ReplyDeleteLove love love love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely design!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave to agree: the design for this game is epic!

ReplyDeleteIt won't even finish loading. the only thing on the screen are snowflakes.
Beautiful...
ReplyDeleteTake home message: act!
:)
I´m beginning to think we have anonymous gamedesigner here to boost this...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely horrible game. Very slow, very glitchy and too heavy. Poor graphics too.

ReplyDeleteI like these developers, especially onemrbean, every game they make is beautiful and profound :)
ReplyDeleteThis was a beautiful design and a fairly interesting game. It took me a while to discover you were in a closed universe.
ReplyDeleteI had no glitchiness, but it got a little boring at points.
I did expect a more impactful musical ending, even though the visual ending was well done and unique.
It's definitely creative and artful.
Thanks Bart!

ReplyDelete@ Jess:Lol I think so too! lololollollollolollollollollol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg!
ReplyDeletelolomg
Nice little game, the graphic were good. I do prefer maps, but the singing or calling helped enough.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand this game at all. Is there a walkthrough for it anywhere?
ReplyDeleteStunning. Absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of interactive credits, as well.
I didn't have any glitches or problems at all, everything just fell together marvelously.

All I have is a blank white screen that won't change even when I click on it and press the arrow keys. Any ideas?
