it dies in the light

Another puzzlescript creation: It dies in the light by Christopher Wells. Can you ban all the dark bits in each level without stepping out of the light?

I enjoyed the other puzzle-script games, but this one has inconsistent behavior. Why do I "die" when I'm standing in the beam of light above the emitter, but not when I'm standing in the beam of light below the emitter?

It is consistent. Are you talking about level 1? Below the emitter, darkness is blocked with a block, and above the emitter not, you step into the dark. Hmm hard to explain :)

Seriously, this game is confusing. I move the light block one space in the same direction I had been moving for the last three spaces before, with beams still coming out from the other three sides, and suddenly the entire level goes dark.

Yes, level 1. In the initial screen, the characteristics of the squares immediately above and below the emitter are identical. Both have a beam of light going through them; both are next to a blue brick wall; both are next to exactly three light grey 'lit' squares. There is no reason I can find that stepping into one of these is fine but stepping into the other means death.

With trial and error, I can get through the levels, but it's "guess", not logic.

OK, I see it now. The darkness can only be kept at bay by the emitter beam or by having no entry into a lit area. Not really very light-like, since I'm standing in the light beam but am "in the dark".

Not very intuitive, so definitely not my favorite of these games.

Think of the darkness like a liquid and the physics become clearer. The light eliminates/clears away the dark liquid. The barrels/boxes and walls keep it contained. If you step in front of a beam you are blocking it from clearing out the dark matter allowing it to flow to where you are.

Ok, got it. Any square not directly lit and next to a dark space gets dark.

Can't seem to play any of the puzzle-script games... The game seems to load but then the start screen disappears. What am I doing wrong?

@Tanja maybe you're using an older browser? Puzzle script games are html5 and need more recent browsers.

This is more like trying to contain an ever-expanding liquid than actually filling a space with light. If the "darkness" can expand into an area where it is not quarantined, it will even if you have already "lightened" the space.

The title is wrong. The aim is to wipe out all areas of darkness; darkness spreads where not blocked; and if darkness touches you, you die.

The graphics are particularly horrible in this one. Took a lot of experiment to figure out how the special blocks work when lit. Key bounce is just as bad. And then it was over.

Please, no more until someone invests a bit more time in getting these games to look and play better.

This game is hard. I get how it works, but it's kind of hard to predict what will happen when you move each block. One second I'm maneuvering a block to light up more space, and the next second I'm dead because I accidently unblocked the light and let darkness get where I am.

I think this game is about saving the world from the "Grey goo" not darkness. Grey goo is the S.F. nickname for out of control nanobots. Most stories had nanobots that were deactivated by a wavelength of light.

I think that I was misled by the title too. What "dies" in the light is darkness and not our little man.

As I got its logic and started playing and not experimenting and guessing... it was over!

Actually, I enjoyed this puzzle-script game the most!! I find it very logical, ofcourse not realistic as in realistic of our world, but the concept ist clear and very well executed.
