Time for a new bontegame! It's a small puzzler I made in between a larger project, it's called 25 and you can play it in your browser or get it as a free app for Android on Google Play here. A version for iOS has also been submtted and I'll let you know when it gets approved by Apple.
So how to play 25? Use the cursor keys (in the browser) or swipe the screen (on mobile) to move all the blocks and push same numbered block together to level up. Red blocks will block you, match 3 or more red blocks in a row (horizontally or vertically) to remove them. I'm curious to find out your best score, so make sure to leave a comment with your score, or use the built in twitter button to tweet your score, I'll be monitoring those tweets too! I hope you enjoy 25 and if you do, please share it, rate it and tweet it, cheers!
First!
ReplyDeleteNew bontegame???
ReplyDeleteYeah! Let's be FIRST!!
:D
Ahah!
ReplyDeleteExcellent, this is sooo going to be my new addiction!
ReplyDeleteLovely on Anroid and it's free which is lovely too :-)
ReplyDelete1771! Is that any good?
ReplyDelete2304, but mostly by luck as I had some problems at the beginning to figure out how the blocks are moving
ReplyDelete3826. It is a fun game with just a bit more complexity than 2048, but also with a bigger board.
ReplyDelete2841!
ReplyDelete586! but I was playing with my left hand :P
ReplyDelete586 again... I bet it's quite difficult to reach the same result again and again, eh?!
ReplyDelete1395
ReplyDeleteScored 2692 on my first attempt.
ReplyDeleteHey great! Now if only I could find the rules of the game so i could play...
ReplyDelete:/
Again it's cropped on firefox. This is really annoying
ReplyDeleteHi Bart, thx for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHad no problems with firefox, scored 3285. :)
3839
ReplyDelete2984 with a 8 as higher digit.
ReplyDelete3329
ReplyDelete4449! I love this!
ReplyDeleteAHHHH damn you Bart. It took me forever to finally beat 2048 now I have to play this until I win. Great game but maybe give a "warning you will need redbull" tomorrow the day before the release
ReplyDelete4673! Excellent game
ReplyDelete5788, highest level 9
ReplyDeleteHi Bart
ReplyDeleteExcellent game 3124 first play
Got as far as 2630.
ReplyDeleteFirst time playing it: 1306 with as highest number a 7. It's hard because there is a very slow reaction time. The blocks only move after you've pushed a second time and then you easily lose sight of where you were supposed to go, since the second push is also counted.
ReplyDeleteHi Silke, the slow reaction you experience is not normal. Maybe there's another taxing process running on your pc?
ReplyDeleteWhere'd the comment go with the link to the article about clone games?
ReplyDeleteURLs get most of the time eaten by my spam filter. I hope you're not suggesting this is a clone.
ReplyDeleteMy best score so far: 5086 with a 9 tile and having fun! :)
ReplyDeleteSorry Bart, I got to 2382 before I got bored. It seemed like I could go on forever if I cared to. I like your games a lot, but this time it seems like you were influenced a lot by the recent crop of "combine the numbers" games. I think your own original game ideas are better and more fun. But thank you for all your games.
ReplyDelete2038 Level 7 my first time playing!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 05:23 and Tam, post a video!!
ReplyDelete3862
ReplyDeleteAwesome game! This game could be very addicting, so I'm going to run away from my computer right now or I'll never get anything done for the rest of the week.1
1230 on first try, but I had the same problems as Silke, Bart! =( Not sure why...
ReplyDelete@Wow:
ReplyDeleteSorry! No video :(
But I have a print screen (useless for you, source of pride for me):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/o2une2wma3yf2p9/BartBonte%2025.JPG
On the computer, SilkeH6, mine's also reeeally slow. My computer just sent me a message saying if I continue with this page, my computer will become unresponsive. Don't want that. Looks like I won't be able to play this one, but I'd really love too. None the less, thanks for the game Bart.
ReplyDeleteIf my maths is right you would need to combine 16,777,216 tiles to get a 25 tile!
ReplyDelete@Wow: sorry, neither video, nor a screenshot ...
ReplyDeletegood luck, Anonymous 05:23 :)
@Riiick
ReplyDeleteI think you stopped one spot too soon...each tile past 2 = the previous tiles * 2 + 2... so to get a 3 you need 2*2+2=6 and to get a 5 you need 2*14+2=30 and so on. So for a 25 you need 2*16777214+2= 33,554,430 not to mention all of the other close to 25 numbers you would have to make plus the reds. Given the minimum connections at .1 sec per it would take over a month to beat this game unless later the game starts dropping higher numbers. I scored 6290 so far

ReplyDeleteThe good luck worked:

So far, best is 4450.
ReplyDelete5641!!! My best score with a 9 as higher digit...
ReplyDelete5027!
ReplyDelete5910 :)
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm still excited: 8320, lv 10!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it! ... And I can't concentrate anymore - my brain is empty.
Good luck to all, Anonymous 05:23 :))
@Anonymous 01:02
ReplyDeleteThen your lucky. All bontegames links are in my case
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/4918/oa1c.png
5034!
ReplyDeleteFirst time playing it, I got a 10.
ReplyDeleteSecond time playing it, I got a 10.
I'm in the middle of my third runthrough and I am loving this game. (You can tell I don't care too much about score, more about maximum tile.)
Bart Bonte, if you're reading this, I challenge you to make this game on Puzzlescript. You can, of course, use any existing number combine games to help you get your base code (Puzzlescript Threes is likely a good choice to begin working from). If you can showcase many Puzzlescript games, and you can make your own non-Puzzlescript puzzle games, I think it should be no problem.

ReplyDeleteArgh ! I'm exhausted...
I think the 10 block wasn't so far but "game over" : I miss it...
I'll try again but not now : I didn't think a game was so long.
Excellent addictive game !!!
Yayy 5329 with a 9 and a 8, I want a 10 !! (so addictive, tx Bart, waiting for the iOS one)
ReplyDelete726! (First time) Addictive!
ReplyDelete5856! (one 9 and one 8)
ReplyDeletesuch a great concept - great fun too!
ReplyDeleteThere's now a FREE version of the game for iPhone and iPad too:
ReplyDeletehttps://itunes.apple.com/us/app/25-game/id847466186?mt=8
Cheers!
Do not like. Mindless play inevitably ending in death. I'll wait for something more interesting.
ReplyDeleteYeeees !
ReplyDeleteI've got the 10 !!!
my best score 12619
Et vive l'autosave ;)
Congrats @Louping! You are excellent!!! :D
ReplyDelete7117. I think there's not so much motivation though when theres no final point or endgoal. 25 is the theoretical upper limit but practically its almost impossible so
ReplyDeleteMr. Bonte,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what I did that caused it, but there appears to be an invisible block on my board. I moving the blocks around, but no matter what arrow I push, no block moves into the spot, even though it is empty. New blocks come out of that spot, making me think that there are blocks there, they're just not visible for some reason.
Awesome game Bart! Super addicting and really fun!
ReplyDeleteYou can continue your game? Awesome!
ReplyDeleteOkay, phantom block is back, and this time it caused me to lose!
ReplyDelete@Emily Is that on mobile or in the browser? Can you send me a screenshot please (bontegames@gmail.com) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSorry. I usually love barts games. I tend also to be able to solve them. but this game tells me nothing. Nothing at all. I do not know what to do, and after an hour I still do not. When you press the arrow keys, it is random which numbers move? There is no sense or logic. Just some numbers that are higher and some red cubes Arrggg ....:-p I was so happy when I saw that there was a new Bart Bonte game. I went jogging clothes. Downloaded food, candy and soda because now there having fun .... but no .... I got a long nose.
ReplyDeleteOk let me try to explain more clearly:
ReplyDeleteWhen you push an arrow key, all blocks move together in that direction, until they hit a wall.
With each move a new block appears on the board.
It is your mission to push a 1 on a 1 to form a 2 block.
A 2 and a 2 form a 3 block and so on.
The higher blocks you make, the more points you get.
But there are also red blocks, without a number that will get in your way.
When you align 3 or more red blocks horizontally or vertically they will disappear.
I hope the game is clear now :) Cheers!
Best so far is 18998, still trying to get that 11 block. Has anyone managed to do that yet?
ReplyDeleteWow 18998 is really amazing! You should tweet your score! Best so far is 14267 :)
ReplyDeleteMr. Bonte,
ReplyDeleteIt's one the browser, and I sent you an email.
Love this game! Though I'm not really good at it. But I'll keep on trying to improve my highscore of 2723.
ReplyDeleteBart, I have been coming to your website for the past 8 years playing the games you list as well as your own super clever and creative games.
ReplyDeleteI finally have a smart phone and my first download is '25'! Very addictive and will keep me occupied for hours. Thank you!
My new record: 7264!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course I've been playing every day :)
So relaxing! Thank you, Bart.
My highest number is only 8. Highest score is only 2799
ReplyDeletehighest number is only nine...oh well, just keep playing.
ReplyDelete8897 with a 10
ReplyDeletecurrent best score on android: 6136. Highest tile: 9. I wish I could get to that 10!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe if there was an "undo" button... you could go back and figure out where you went wrong and see if there is a way to win without having to start over!
I did 11654 :)
ReplyDelete10691 with a 10.
ReplyDeletethe 11 eludes me still.
my highscore is 17195 and i got level 11, but i don't think anyone will ever hit level 25. that's a bit frustrating for such an addicting game.
ReplyDeleteFinally got the elusive 11 block with a high score of 17820. Huzzah!
ReplyDeletebest 40697. I have 13 or 14. and no idea how complete this
ReplyDeleteI know this is an old(er) game now, but I'm still addicted! Has anyone managed to get a 14 tile? My best is 86,382 with a 13 tile.
ReplyDelete13 tile and 100000+ score but I think that the game is imposible...
ReplyDeleteI got 29025, close to having a 12.

ReplyDeleteMs Highscore is 18727 with the 11 .. Almost had the 12 😺
ReplyDeletefirst try i got 1219 points.
ReplyDeleteOk, first: this game is crazy - each level is exponentially harder - I'm not positive it is possible to win it. But dammit, I'm trying. And have been trying for a longer period of time than I would like to admit.
ReplyDeleteSecond: there is a way to do a save point, it requires entirely too much work and if you lose track or forget to do it correctly at the correct time, you're screwed and have to go back to the beginning.
Third: Consider putting in an actual save feature, especially considering point number one? Or add another row of cells? As I said, I'm not sure it is actually possible to win, based on the distribution of red boxes, number of cells and the exponential way you have to ascend.
Lastly: I'm really damned stubborn. I'm at 15, with a score of 387451. I have a decent save currently and I see a way forward to maybe to be able to get to 16. I can get to 12-13 reliably and quickly when I screw up my save point, but past that.....ugh. I wish I didn't have compulsive tendencies when it comes to games like this. You may literally be able to drive me mad with a game that is impossible to solve.
How do you save?
DeleteIt is boring to always start all over from the beginning.
A nice game. I like it. Its very fun too. My best score is 1006
ReplyDelete7001! Thx for your games and this highscore page !
ReplyDeleteMy best score was 48438. I ended with a 12 tile and an 11 tile with a 9 the next highest. I'm curious if it is even possible to get to a '25' tile, since there are only 25 places in all, I feel like it is impossible, because every tile would be in use with no red and no place for the combining tile, even if you had all the numbers lined up perfectly??? Bart... do you have a comment? Is it possible to reach a 25 tile? Do you know what the highest score and/or Tile number really is??
ReplyDeleteThe win with a '25' time is only theoretically, the joy should be in the journey ;)
ReplyDeleteI only track highscores on the iOS version, the leaderbord shows highest score of 93110.
But the comment of SapphireMind here above speaks of a score of 387451 (with a '15' tile).
Maybe I should rework the game one day to have a leaderboard on all platforms and allow for save points...
This is such an addictive game !! Ive been playing for a month now and highest is 7230 with tile 9. But I want to get to 10 sooo bad, my fingers are cramping lol! Thx bart
ReplyDeleteLove this game. I spend way too much time on it and so far have only managed to get to tile 11 with score of 25964. Hope more games like this (never-ending ) come out
ReplyDeleteYes please on the save points and leaderboard for everyone. I am embarrassingly still addicted to this game. Save point and support for those of use playing on the web and don't believe in apple products!
ReplyDeleteBest score is 55000, with a 12 tile. Still working for the 25!
ReplyDeleteHigh score 64439. Anyone any higher? This is my limit for a long long time now.
ReplyDelete
