souls in stone
An atmospheric puzzle platformer by Evgiz: souls in stone. Move with the arrow keys and jump with Z.
This reminds me quite a bit of the game Valley Rule. Same art style, similar mechanics, even the falling water animation is the same. Was this made by the same person?
Oh god, the controls for this are barely responsive. And it's probably just my low-memory system, but every time a lot of "water" appears on the screen, it gets glitchy and starts "stutter-scrolling."
I had to stop halfway through, which is a shame, because aside from those problems, it was fun.
Cannot figure out how to get the 3 stones on the 3 buttons as they fall the 'wrong way', can't press the button in the middle and standing on it doesn't work, which did in previous 'rooms', that's quite annoying, inconsistent theories.
Thank you aliosha for the tip, got through that but I absolutely give up with a game that simply cannot manage to be responsive. Run and jum... no. I died about 150 times trying to jump over 1 piece of water purely because the jump button only works 1% of the time. I also found the game lost all colours when replaying on several ocassions, it loaded all blue and washed out, some major glitches with this. 10/10 for concept, 1/10 for execution.
Incredibly annoying to play without a restart button. I'm not going to run and find some water to throw myself into every time I get stuck. That's what made me quit eventually - too bad, it seems like a cute game.
I like the graphics and the music. However, I quit at the point where you can climb walls. There are too many millimeter-precise jumps and rock placements to make a "replay the entire level if you miss one" fun. I also agree that this game could have used a replay button so you don't have to suicide when you misplace a rock. Finally, the fact that the screen doesn't stay stationary but oscillates a bit when you stop moving makes a lot of the tricks much harder to pull off than they should have been.
this game seems to be copying from raiyumi (the guy who made the valley rule) almost completely, only differences being a lack of responsive controls and the fact that it stutters so much, i dont know if this was blatant stealing, a form of admiration, or something of the like, but either way i can't stand it
Nice game, but the final stage gave me arthritis.
ReplyDeleteI get to a pink level, press a button, get stuck, go back to previous room and I'm blocked by a wall. Totally lost. Anyone got a map? haha!

ReplyDeletei was about to say that same thing @anonymous but I forgot the name

ReplyDeleteHelen : the rock at the right can be a "bridge" to push the middle rock into the middle hole. It take me some time to figure that out...
ReplyDeleteJust getting a black screen :(

ReplyDeleteI'm completely stuck here: http://i.imgur.com/JoSz9NA.png
ReplyDeleteI just barely made a jump that was 6 blocks wide and now I'm supposed to manage one that's around 7-8?
And right after I posted that comment I was able to do it! You just have to go to the far left of the island, run forward and jump at the right time

ReplyDeleteIt resembles valley rule completely; I must say, a very talanted copy. Yet it looks cheaper both with graphics and mechanics.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Jana for the reset button missing
ReplyDeleteAnd i did iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!
ReplyDeleteYaaaay
I begin to understand better all the jump wall tricks :D
Thank you for this finger training! :D

ReplyDeleteList of things I hate in a game;
ReplyDelete1 - Unresponsive controls
2 - Stuttering
3 - Short pieces of music on an obvious loop
This game scores 3/3 for somehow managing to get all of the above.
