seed
Use only the left and right cursor keys to plant seeds in the puzzle platformer seed by Dominique Morin.
Fun game. Little simplistic at first, but got gradually harder until the last levels were really too difficult for me. The lack of a saving feature is also quite annoying as you have to play through all of the easy levels before you can start trying the difficult ones again. This caused me not to finish the game. I got bored at the nth playthrough.
For me, it gets hugely more difficult at level 19. That's the (first) one with 3 switches, and it takes 20 minutes to get back there whenever I think of something new to try. The only way I've found to get the "seed" on top of the moving block is to start by dropping the activator on the upper right switch, so that the block stops when it hits you. (Dropping it down the hole on the right and moving the block up through that chimney doesn't work; the block goes right past it without picking it up.) But then the block is obstructing that switch, so I can't get at it to make it finish the original journey, and if I move it to the top left it scrapes the seed off too soon; if I move it to the bottom right, it leaves the seed behind when it passes through the floor. Does anybody have a proof that it's possible?
Turns out I did. Susanreads, you had the right idea. Dropping the seed down the chasm to the left and picking it up with the moving block is exactly what you're supposed to do. It's working for me. I think you've either encountered a bug (I cringe at advising you to refresh; you'd have to start all over), or the block hadn't completely finished moving to the right, and so wasn't exactly in line with the chasm. I don't know if that would affect anything or not, but try giving it an extra few seconds before picking the activator off the switch.
Assuming level 19 is the one I think it is: drop down hole, move block straight up, move block to far left, seed falls in activator as it passes. I'm getting stuck a level or two after that and the "play all levels again" thing is wearing thin!
I think there's a bug on level 19 (see my comment above and replies). I was about to try again, having got up to that point last night and looking forward to the "continue" option, but I can't get it to resume - do I have to start again because you updated the game again?
Thanks for replying. I'm using Firefox 43.0.4 (and Shockwave Flash 20.0.0.267). It wasn't fullscreen; I tried again with fullscreen just now and it didn't make a difference, but maybe I've lost my save because I started the program and didn't get the continue to work.
By the way, it's nice to find a platformer that doesn't involve jumping. I'd have given up a lot sooner if jumping was involved. Some of the "falling" expressions are a bit alarming!
@susanreads - "maybe I've lost my save because I started the program and didn't get the continue to work."
That's probalby it...

The "continue" still doesn't work. When it loads, there's the page with "continue" next to the left arrow, and "start" next to the right arrow, but neither the left arrow key nor C does anything, and holding down both arrow keys starts at level 1, even when I did the first few levels shortly before reloading. (Firefox etc. as above, Windows 7 laptop, not fullscreen.)
I played all the way through just now so I can confirm that every level works fine. I never had to use the new continue feature so I can't confirm if it works. The final level took me longer than the rest of the game by the way.
I think I'm going to give up on this. Yesterday evening I tried the https:// like you suggested, played up to level 19 again, then just now when I loaded it with the same https:// prefix, it started me back at level 1. The bug (where the moving block, going up the right-hand chimney, goes straight through the seed without picking it up) was still there on level 19, and the circular things at the end of each level that used to have the level numbers and a time were all saying NaN instead.
Cool game, thank you for sharing Bart.
ReplyDeleteNice little platformer, enjoying this!
ReplyDeleteI did it!!!!! :D
ReplyDeletethat was very fun, i was greatly over thinking the last level
ReplyDeleteVery nice game! Too bad it doesn't save your progress though - I didn't finish the last two levels and couldn't continue later.
ReplyDeleteI guess this just wasn't for me -- the solutions were so obvious that I got terminally bored by level 12 or so.
ReplyDeletethe last level was really challenging, big step up from the first ones.
ReplyDeleteNice game! Took 44 minutes of my time apparently :-)
Finally completed the game. Big challenge. All I needed to do was strategize my every move.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this game, too, but would also vote to have it improved by allowing levels completed to be saved. -- "Anonymous C"

ReplyDeleteIt didn't save my progress! URRRGH.
ReplyDeleteI did one with three switches, but I don't know if I have the patience to get back there and help you.
Turns out I did.

Hi!
ReplyDeleteI'm the developer of SEED! Thanks for playing it and for your feedback. This is awesome!
I just add an auto save at the end of each stage. At the start of the game, you can press C to load your last saved game.
Cool!
ReplyDeleteAwesome to hear that.

ReplyDeleteSo happy to see that there is now a save function! I've been playing the first 19 levels too many times :)
ReplyDeleteFor those who want to try, SEED also support touchscreen now (tell me if it works fine for you!).

@susanreads
ReplyDeleteI had some issue with the "continue" last night, but it was really inconsistent. It's weird because the process is so simple...
can you tell me the browser you used and if it was fullscreen?
@Spout,

@susanreads
ReplyDeleteSomeone on reddit had a similar problem. It's something with the browser security system. He changes the URL by adding https://
so https://vermine.itch.io/seed might do the trick!
I played all the way through just now so I can confirm that every level works fine.

There is only a black and empty square .. no game.
ReplyDeleteThe added saving feature doesn't work for me.. Anyone else?
