Well, that was fun! Just two in-game nudges (one was a forehead slapper, so I am mad I didn't think harder) and I am out. Lovely game...can't believe it was free! Thanks for the news, Bart!
If you are talking about the one on the shelf, with the three letter combo, the solution is the inversion of the numbers on the metal plate found on the sofa. If I have the wrong chest, let me know...
If you are talking about the two-button chest, you need to look at both sides of that metal plate, and the fact that some of the numbers are embossed and some are stamped, and the two different buttons relate to whether the numbers are raised or indented. =) That's probably the chest you mean.
Lizzie! Thank you. I ended up taking a peek at the walkthrough and still could not figure out how they derived the combination. NOW... its makes sense!! (And you are correct.. that nasty two button deal is the correct chest!)
Out - but I must say I found it somehow boring... if some riddles are nice, I don't like at all having to try unlogical actions - or clicking everywhere because there is no clue about what to do next or where to search....
If you are you looking for a solution or a walkthrough for one of the game links, please have a look in the comments.

Much potential for some really devious levels.
Combination to that chest with the buttons made absolutely no sense to me even after the walkthrough... can anyone explain the logic to me...
