Finished.
Liked it at the beginning, but eventually I found it too long...
And if some riddles are interesting, a great part of the game consists in random tries - be it clicking everywhere or attempting doubtful tools usage...
Wow, this is definitely not a short game. Set aside some time for this one.
It's a fabulous game. It is true, though, that there are some randomness and spurious tool usage, but most puzzles have some element of logic to them. Definitely a couple of illogical odd bits you had to get by just clicking, though.
A couple of times I had to use my own guesswork logic to figure out the puzzle without finding the in-game clues, and fortunately the game allows this.
Still, in this lean time for good escape games, it was wonderfully refreshing.
Thank you, Bart!!!
I'm stuck. I seem to be stopped by 3 key holes and a symbolic password. (planter, cabinet and bookcase) Can anyone help out?
Anonymous @21:10,
What items do you have?
Just got in the cabinet, but it looks like I need one more coin... I have 3 copper coins, the maoi head, a wrench, a screwdriver and the sketchbook.
Oops, I meant bookcase
Awesome! Haven't played a long epic escape game like this in a while. Kotorinoso and Neutral are still the best at these.
@Anonymous-
I think I know where you are.
Don't worry about the coin puzzle yet, examine the cabinet you just opened more carefully.
I'm stumped. All I have are two coins, the screwdriver (minus the bit; I only recognize it because I have an identical one that belonged to my great-grandfather), the magnifying glass, and a weird panel thing that looks like it needs to plug into something, and has up and down arrows flanking the "socket".
Anonymous @1:42
Look at the table and the chairs. The design where you found the coin looks like a picture on the wall.
Wow! Finally finished after several solid hours and I loved it! Beautiful game and well-rewarding.
I disagree that there were leaps in logic or random clicking; every puzzle made sense to me and the only part I had to get a hint for was having to flip the clock picture over (SPOILER you have to click on the wall to the right of it, not on the picture itself), and though there wasn't exactly clues for where to look with the binoculars, they were all noticeable objects to try. The spurious tool usage - if I'm guessing correctly what you were referring to - becomes much more logical if you click on the item once and it flips over to look exactly like the tool you use it as.
Very well done. ^_^
I did the thing with the bookcase, but now it seems like I need scissors (in at least two places) and a hammer. Either that or a key or two.
Definitely for the advanced escape gamer, with a lot of patience and luck. And that isn't me. Walk through was 27 plus minutes long. It would take me all day.
I have some kind of lever that I don't know where to put. I'm completely stuck.
Anonymous who did the bookcase but seems to need scissors or hammer or key -- just got past this step, look outside. Really, look. No, closer.
On day two, still plugging at it. Considering the price (free), I'm definitely getting more than my money's worth.
The only thing I would have changed is the white light you see when you find the door. In many other games, that indicates the exit. The game has autosave, so I was loathe to click door until I was sure that I wasn't missing some happy coin or such. (spoiler, it's not the exit, so go ahead and click it.)
Look at the bookcase cabinet again. There's something hidden there.
@Urban Garlic, Your comment really doesn't help. Where do I look?
Never mind...
Loved it! Needed a hint for the coins in the machine..
Thank you Bart!!! Merry Christmas and a happy 2019!
Rob.
I have most of the stone tablet, but I don't have the bottom of it. Help please.
I love monumental escape games! This isn't maybe as good or as long as Neutral's ELEMENTS or Robamimi's Gargoyles, but it's definitely not far from them!
Needed a couple hints: search for objects carefully.
Thanks Bart & Mani .
Some people like em long & hard.
Some sticky points were...
How & where to use the head thrice.
7+ keys & items to unlock stuff.
small hard to see stuff, like 2nd screw cover.
Was there a clue for the ship in the bottle right slider?
I just used the rope to get to what looks like the last area and now I'm stumped. I have 9 items: 4 metal, 4 paper and one wooden.
Help! I was going along strong and had used the screwdriver multiple times and then it disappeared from my inventory, which usually means an item isn't needed anymore. But the screwdriver IS needed in order to access another key. Deep enough in the game that I don't want to/have time to go back and re-do everything. Game was autosaving, so only have the current status. Was really enjoying game up to this point. I may have completed actions in a different order than others, but can't believe game didn't check that all actions needing the screwdriver were complete before taking it out of the inventory! : (
Just finished! It took me about two days to complete and I ended up needing 3 hints. Loved the game play and graphics. Almost all of the puzzles felt intuitive to me (except the ones where a hint was needed, lol). Thanks Bart!
Loved it. What seemed like a standard one room escape kept growing into more and more.
While I got stuck a few times, a few minutes of observation usually set me on my way again. My biggest "failure" was NOT finding the binoculars, which I only knew existed by reading the comments here. (The final puzzle is impossible without them). Finally did a full search of the world and found them...in the last place I looked! (Hint: On the floor of the balloon).
Best hint I can give is that if you still HAVE something, that means you'll need it again. Find a way/place to use it!
Sorry, not for me this one, i can aimlessly click on the screen for better reasons than this, the effort that has gone into this could have provided several shorter games rather than this marathon there are times the logic is pretty tenuous, ok after the event you see it, I think it would take about an hour even if you knew your way through just too much time wasted.
I have the following in my inventory:
Locked box with three buttons, magnifying glass/key, wrench, panel with nine holes, three copper coins, a screwdriver, and a moyai head
I have just turned off the globe.
What do I do now?
Unknown,
Look for a place to put the panel. If you put it in the right place, you should be able to find a hint for where to use the magnifying glass. I hope that helps.
Is there a YouTube walkthrough for this game?
How do I use the code that is revealed when the lights are off?
Just remember when that happens something is now easy to get to.
What do I do after getting the lighter?
You should have a piece of paper that looks like it's been burned before...
I have two coins, a knob, and a thing that has arrows on it. What do I do to get the third coin?
WOW - monumental escape game, finished in ?? ... many hours. Some really brilliant puzzles although I got a bit claustrophobic while stuck in the basement for what seemed an uncomfortably long time. A beautiful brainteaser perfectly timed for solution over the Christmas break. Thanks Bart and THANKS KOTORINOSU!! Well done!
Somebody post a speedrun to YT. I'm too tired haha
actually now that I looked, several people have already posted solutions on YouTube. I encourage everyone who is asking for hints to go watch the vids.
Really a long and complex game. In the end I just gave up and watched the walkthrough.
Would never haven got out on my own :(
Wow. Love Kotorinosu games, but this reaches a new level, right up there with Neutral. Also, had, for me, the most feel of being back on Myst Island in a couple of decades. Was breezing along Friday night and hit the coin pump. I kept telling myself for two days, "you'll kick yourself when you figure this out." Bingo! Then spent too much time drawing pictures on the balloon screen before stumbling over the, again, plain-as-day solution. However, biggest problem was many of my game screens were blurred out, usually diagonally across the screen. I had to guess on a bunch of the puzzles because I could only see half the image. Am I the only one with this Unity "blurring" problem?
Many thanks for the wonderful Christmas present, Mani!
Just replayed this all the way through, and I highly recommend this -- once you have all the puzzles sorted out, it's nice to go back and just enjoy the ambiance, and maybe even get a new insight or two into how some of the clues come together.
Simply watching the walk through video left me exhausted :-/
To Anonymous who asked "Was there a clue for the ship in the bottle right slider?" .. yes there was. i needed help with that puzzle too, it was only afterwards that i saw the clue, a great big clue right in front of me outside in the water, spoiler ... the barrel on the left with sword inserted, ship in the middle facing left, and a cross standing on the right. doh!
I had to use the video walkthrough a couple times...but felt vindicated that the hints I needed were nudges and not giveaways. I love these extended play escapes, and I appreciate the effort the developers put into them to make the puzzles clever and the graphics engaging. Worth the effort, and it is dismaying to me that so many folks commented that the escape was too long. What is going on with modern day attention spans?! Thanks, Bart! Thanks Kotorinosu!
Kotorinosu is an absolute mad lad at escape games. Every new escape game they release only amazes me more than the last. Though I do have to look at a few hints and walkthroughs here and there, the mechanics and the design never ceases to amaze me.
Looks like I do need to observe the surroundings more when I play these. Every nook and cranny does matter in Kotorinosu's works.
Actually, this should have been in the 2018 top ten
Got stuck where I have to insert 12 coins. Just got some numbers in the Leviathan picture: 11, 16 and 24... =(
Just did it! I guess there's more than 1 answer =)
I can't give this game a thumbs up. Instead it gets two big thumbs down:
I watched the walkthrough video and the player had another area to the right of the inventory where a close-up of the selected item is displayed. I did not have that in either of my two up-to-date browsers. Without directions on how to use the remote with the globe, the puzzle is impossible to solve.
Secondly, my goodness, do we not have lives to live? I had already spent a nearly an hour on the puzzle where the walkthrough was only in minute ten or so - out of 28. I agree that the game was a lot of random clicking to find things. Not much logic there. And there were entirely too many puzzles/items connected to each other without any hints as to how.
I will not finish this game. It was a very promising idea, but I have to go to work now, and a game that takes days to solve is not my cup of tea.
Whoever enjoyed this frustrating experience - more power to you.
I really enjoyed this game- though I had to rely pretty heavily on the walkthrough !
It must be like crossword puzzles, at first they are very very tough, until you get the hang of it. I will try to do some more of these and see if I can't get better. Lovely looking world.
That was awesome!
Anyone know the name of the end-credits music?
I love this escape room so much! It was hard and took a LONG time, but it kept me on my toes.
