jiminy [browser]
You are trapped in a dark and moist place. Can you solve all the puzzles to escape in the short escape the room game Jiminy by Guy Unger?
This didn't work properly for me with Chrome (the magnifying glass didn't work right). It worked with Firefox, at least as far as I've gotten (I think I'm missing a key).
I enjoyed this, especially the unique setting, and the fun game mechanics with the lantern and the magnifying glass (which worked fine for me in Chrome), and making and maneuvering the 'boat'. Thanks, Guy and Bart!
I spent a lot of time not being able to get to the skeleton, and the solution IMO is not logical, the thing you need to do to get up on to the deck involves manipulating an object that seems like it's already up on the deck.
Otherwise it's very good, the atmosphere is nice, and the other puzzles are good.
Yeah I thought I would need some new item to climb up on the deck. I figured out that I didn't, but wondered if I couldn't have just climbed up anyway in that case. Also the tree didn't click for me, but I'm not annoyed about that, I think it's pretty clever. Luckily I figured out how the rib code was going to go while I was wandering around stuck. For a game that seemed to be going for a creepy feel, the ending was unexpectedly pleasant.
This was pretty good. The graphics had some artistic quality beyond just being plain drawings. The lamp and magnifying glass mechanics were inventive, as was the sailboat.
Agree with others about getting on the deck: it made no sense and broke the illusion of being there.
Had a slight bug in both Chrome and Edge where taking the stick from inventory changed the cursor to the conventional arrow icon, with the stick not being visible. Game play was not affected, however.
All good except as others have said - getting on the deck. It specifically gives you a hint that you "need to find a way onto the deck", but apparently you had to climb on the deck, do something, then climb back down, THEN you can find your way onto it, huh? Unless you just have REALLY "sharp" aim from a distance! Trying to be as vague as possible to not spoil it :)
Powerfully atmospheric for such a short game. Comments helped altho in retrospect, I didn't really need them. Had no issues getting on deck -- didn't think twice about 'the climb up'. Was a little stalled at the beginning but once I got into how the mechanics worked, everything was good. Pleasant music as well. We need more games with heart -- like this one.

ReplyDeletewow that was super short.

ReplyDeleteCan't find key either ....
ReplyDeleteThe colors clue for the skeletons ribs were very hard to see and couldn't make them work.
ReplyDeleteTake the axe to the painting. Use magnifying glass. It reveals the order in which to press the ribs
ReplyDeleteYou get the key when you solve the skeleton rib order.

Would like to see more from this developer.
Very nice and easy! Wish it was longer. I hope they do more.
