grids of thermometers [browser]
Fill a grid of thermometers inspired by picross in each level of the pico-8 puzzle game Grids of Thermometers by Frozax. Note: you use the Z-key to start and select.
This turns the boring math puzzle into a game, fun. Having a bulb gives it a direction & makes it easier. However there was some kind of to quick helper thing. Also I think there were some alternate solutions.
Re: the previous Anon, For keyboard, I think Z & X or C & V work. The Pico 8 framework isn't great.
As for the game itself, it's an interesting idea, but the puzzles were all pretty easy, even up to the 6x6 ones. I wonder if larger grids could lead to more interesting/challenging puzzles. An additional rule/mechanic might help as well.
Yeah, that feature mentioned above is a huge flaw. It's a great idea to make the old thermometer puzzle concept in Pico-8, but the game checks whether the box you just filled is consistent with the solution, not whether it specifically violates a rule in the current configuration. You won't run into that if you always use correct deduction and only fill boxes you know must be filled, but it means you can just trial-and-error through each box very quickly.
Also, you're gonna need some bigger grids to get really challenging...
I found double-tapping z in order to make squares blue kinda tedious, but I'm always a sucker for games like this: the general picross-type mechanic is always a joy, and the thermometer aspect here added some fun
This is based a well-known puzzle Thermometers. If you want more challenging puzzles, there is a big collection puzzles in Otto Janko's homepage at https://www.janko.at/Raetsel/Thermometer/index.htm
- never got challenging - having to press z twice to mark excluded was tedious. should have been a different key - the anon recommendation above is great: go to Otto Janko's homepage at https://www.janko.at/Raetsel/Thermometer/index.htm - start at level 101 and use x/c/space to mark cells, arrow keys to move, or use your mouse - level 101 alone was more satisfying than the entire Pico 8 game
If you are you looking for a solution or a walkthrough for one of the game links, please have a look in the comments.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I can't figure out what I'm supposed to press to start the game. It looks like either a zero or "O"... help?

Yes, "C" did it - thanks
Did anybody noticed?
If you mark/fill a wrong piece the background will blink?

Yeah, we couldn't figure out how to start it either. Not a very auspicious beginning.

So it tells you when you fill a wrong space. How is that fun?
Maybe a bit easy but I always enjoy Aquarium-type puzzles. Good one!
nice game! - would love more of it
Quick and fun. Took me a few levels to start using the blue.
