chthonic brilliance [browser]

Dig through blocks and collect all the gems to make your way through the 20 levels of the puzzle game Chthonic Brilliance by Cassowary, another entry for the 'deeper and deeper' themed Ludum Dare 48 game jam.

Pretty good one! It isn't a very interesting interpretation of the theme, but considering they actually started late and had less than 48 hours to finish, it's a great polished product! I was stuck on the last level for a few minutes because I didn't understand how the crumbling blocks worked, so that's what I get for trying to think things through before I try anything...

Yeah, this was fun, the levels were short enough that I didn't mind the lack of undo button, it actually added to the stress and thoughtfulness of getting the ordering right

The controls are pretty painful.. Not sure why this needs to be mouse-controlled at all, especially when it makes things like pushing a crate or jumping over one into a real chore of clicks.

Nice that it can be played from my phone but it doesn't have a restart button 😅 I'll play again later from my PC

Your hint is only making me feel worse.
What is the hidden dynamic?

I agree that making it keyboard-based would have been better

I'm stuck on the first row with a pushable block. How do you get at the small gems? I can't get through the floor they're standing on or the one above, the blocks at either side of them don't appear to be movable, and once I jump down I'd need 3 blocks, not one, to get back up to that row.

(Commenting again mainly because I forgot to subscribe the first time)
The sand does not obey gravity. I had to go through the first few levels again (does it not remember where you were or is it just me?) to try something else I thought of (it didn't work), and you dig down and tunnel under sand blocks and the ones above don't drop down behind you.
