patrick's parabox puzzlescript demake [browser]

A recursive puzzle game about boxes within boxes within boxes within boxes: Patrick's Parabox PuzzleScript demake by Competor. The game is a puzzlescript demake of some levels of the upcoming puzzler Patrick's Parabox by Patrick. (Z key to undo a move, R key to restart a level)

  1. I don't understand what you're supposed to do. Any help?

  2. Good one. Took me a while on Level 2 to realize you can solve the puzzles by putting any box (other than yourself) on the checkered squares. Level 1 had me thinking I had to put the box with the puzzle in it on them.

  3. got freaked out in level 6 when suddenly i could push the parabox outside of the field. nevertheless a great game - mindbending but not too difficult

  4. You are playing Sokoban, trying to shove a box onto each checkered square, then take yourself to the square with two dots on it (I think they resemble the black dots that are your eyes). The additional mechanic that takes you beyond sokoban is that you can enter the box that is a tiny copy of the maze you are in, such that you appear at the entry point yourself in the maze (and, conversely, you can exit the maze, appearing just outside the matching exit point in the tiny copy. Effectively, the full-sized entry/exit points and the matching entry/exit points on the tiny copy are teleporters to each other. Thinking of it as a "recursive" relationship is not really necessary to doing the puzzle.

  5. Stuck on level 7 (if I've counted right). Pushing the parabox outside itself aside (which seems to be a dead end), I can't see how to get it onto the upper target, or to get the yellow box onto the upper target without getting the parabox stuck in the right-hand vertical corridor, where I can't then get it away from the wall.

  6. Man, those original puzzles were a challenge! I underestimated the significance of the teleport mechanic. Because you can move the parabox, it gives you opportunities to move the non-parabox to places it wouldn't ordinarily be able to go.

  8. Wow, this was brain-bending, but rewarded careful concentration and experimentation. The custom levels were quite tricky, not sure I could even reproduce my solutions.
