grow kingdom ep1 [browser]

Eyezmaze is back with a new GROW game, only this time it is in the form of a youtube video where you make your choise each time at the end: GROW Kingdom EP1.

  1. Well, I admit I only made one choice, but this did not interest me enough to watch to the end of the second video.

  2. Hmm. Not as satisfying or playable as other Eyemaze games for sure. I got so excited when I saw there was a new GROW game too.

    1. I thought the same initially about it not being as good as the original games... but then realised that actually there isn't really that much difference - short animation, choose an option, short animation, choose an option. repeat as many times as you like to get the ending you like....

Absolutely loved it as soon as I came round to that way of thinking.
And would happily choose this format anyday just to play some more Grow, over some of the stuff that is released in puzzlescript...

  3. You people can whine as much as you please. So it's not ON-san's best work. So what? If you've been following him, at all, then you have an idea of what he's been through. I have no desire to air his dirty laundry, but I think some of you need a wake-up call.

In the space of only a few years, this man has:

1: Suffered a major heart attack that could have killed him,

2: Undergone major surgery to try to undo some of the damage to his heart,

3: Been walked out on by his wife when she got sick of trying to help him recover, taking their kids with her,

4: Had both of his parents diagnosed with cancer, and

5: Lost his mother to said cancer.

And that's only the stuff that he's felt free to share with his followers. He's been through so damn much, and it's enough to break anyone's heart...provided that they actually possess one, which is clearly more than can be said of Stevens Miller and Blanche DeBris. Yes, I have called both of them out, because their inhumanity quite frankly turns my stomach.

Basically, don't bitch because ON-san hasn't put out as much, or had it be of the high quality that we all know and love. Be grateful that he's alive, and putting more care into his own health than into his games. I'd rather have no games from ON-san, at all, as long as he's healthy and happy.

He's got his priorities in the right order: Take care of his health, do what he can for the family he has left, and try to maintain a respectful relationship with his ex-wife, so that neither of them will alienate the emotions of their children. His games come last, as well they should; don't make him feel worse than he already does about not giving the rest of us as much as he used to.

ON-san's inner strength is magnificent, and I admire and respect him. I'd never dream of complaining about the quality of anything he gives us. If you have any human decency, show him the respect and the compassion that he deserves.

  6. Oh Anonymous, my dear heart, what a large leap you’ve made from “I did not enjoy this game as much I as expected” to “You are a sickening, inhumane, faceless robot with no regard for the suffering of others.”

I am well aware of the struggles and monumental obstacles that the wonderful creator of Eyemaze games has gone through. I have been an avid fan for well over a decade, and in fact I have donated several times to ON-san’s site over the years, and offered my own prayers for them and their family. Not enjoying one game does not mean I am dismissing the entire oeuvre out of hand, nor certainly does it mean I am not empathetic or understanding of the hard work required and sacrifices that are made to produce excellent content!

If I say I prefer Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night over his paintings of haystacks, or I like the earlier works of a band rather than their later catalogue, or if I love Star Wars Episode IV-VI but don’t like Eps I-III --- does not mean I am disparaging or dismissing the entire body of work of all these artists, creators, etc. and have suddenly become hateful and angry at them for not producing the content that I liked previously. Disappointed, yah, but it certainly does not make me evil and sickening, and certainly not deserving of vitriol for merely expressing my opinion (which was not bitchy or hateful in any way).

Perhaps, Anonymous, you might take a moment to realize there are human beings behind those of us making comments, giving our opinions in the spirit of community, and that we also might be creatives who don’t expect everything we do in our artforms to be liked by all people. It’s marvelous that there is still something for everyone to like out there, isn’t it?

Finally, this is a GAME SITE where we talk about games we enjoy, or don’t, and add helpful hints to those stuck playing GAMES. And we come to play games for a little fun, to distract ourselves from our own hardships, grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain and illness, etc. I appreciate your passion and the time it took for you to write out your subjective opinion. I kindly ask that you do not disrespect anyone else’s subjective opinion about one game, nor that you resort to personal attacks and assumptions about others experiences, humanity, or intentions.

I wish you well, and may you continue to enjoy your game-playing experiences.

  7. Well I hesitated to add my 2 cents after all that, (& as anonymous )
I felt the games were never that great, and switching from randomly clicking all over to a "choose your own ending" format would not be a bad idea.
However YouTube has been so annoying lately that it got my ire up before starting. Sorry if you all can afford to waste time or money on ads, but I come here for short & free games. Now that I wasted all my spare time on this I have to run to work. Be nice & just have fun.

  8. So basically watching one YouTube video after another - not what I would call a game. That's more like click-baiting than a game. And as far as the first person "Anonymous" rant and personal attack... WOW! Not at all what I've come to expect on a Bontegames comment section!

  9. I don't know why everyone is hating on this. It's pretty much the same as the original GROWs
for all the people complaining that watching one video after another isn't a game, go back and play the original GROW's. that's all they are. watch a video, play a game. Sure this one is less impressive than GROW island or GROW valley, but it's more in-depth than either GROW 1 or GROW 2.

  10. I just didn't find this as fun as I hoped. I've loved GROW games since back in the flash days but as a you tube video it's just not fun IMO. I wonder if there was an incentive from YouTube to help with the "YouTube Games" even tho it was clearly dead before liftoff. Worth a try, but not worth doing again. I did finish it but I used the slider to skip for the last buncha choices
