After a few years away, Neutral has returned with an all-new escape the room game! Somehow, you are trapped in a strange room. Search for hidden items and clues, solve puzzles and find your way out. Have fun escaping from LEVEL.
Response from the creator, they're asking the community to let them know if you're experiencing the black screen issue. Help them out to narrow down where the problem is:

I've only been able to test on MacOS (Sonoma 14.3), but I've not been able to load it on multiple devices and in Chrome, Firefox or Safari.. It loads the main menu, but when you start a new game it does load the inventory but shows a black screen for the scene (it is showing the navigation arrows). So might be a MacOS problem?
that was the game that just kept giving - everytime i thought i was out, a new room! managed to solve a couple of puzzles by chance I think rather than the intended way. Lots of fun though! not too hard you couldn't solve completely, but not too easy. More like that please!
Had the same issue with different browsers. Workaround: portable version of browser, tried successfully with Firefox portable and Chrome portable. https://portableapps.com/apps/internet
What a swell Christmas present from Neutral (and Mya). Another classic escape adventure. Tricky and easy by turns but a thoughtful, beautiful and entertaining game. Thanx to all its creators.
That was excellent. I whiffed on a couple of the puzzles but definitely a me thing. All of Mya's games are brilliant, and it's no surprise that this one was a throwback to the golden age of escape games — logical but in a glorious way that's deductive, surprising, artful and just a huge pleasure to solve.
In other news, Mani Morishita (kotorinosu), another escape game legend, has a new game dropping imminently. Good times!
Aargh. Looks like you're right. Oh, well. Playing my way back to where I was didn't take as long as I expected. Superb game. I love it when items you've successfully interacted with turn to have further successful interactions awaiting down the road.
The game was fully playable for me in Firefox Mobile on my phone. I found the only tricky part for touch control was the piano keys.
I ended up needing the walkthrough because I was overthinking one puzzle, but I solved a different puzzle by accident and spent the whole game thinking I'd missed something, so I'll call it a draw. Breaking out pen and paper for the numeral puzzle was a treat!
A fantastic classic-style escape and a worthy addition to Mya's body of work!
Does anyone else have a black screen after loading the game?
ReplyDeleteYeah, same here. Tried in multiple browsers and on 2 separate devices, but getting a black screen as well..

DeleteCould be it is MacOS related, as I have only tested on Windows. Let's hope Neutral fixes the problem, because it's an amazing escape game!
DeleteWindows computer. Chrome. Black screen

ReplyDeleteThere are 4 parts, and I have escaped, what a lovely game, thank you!

ReplyDeleteWHHHOOOOOOOOOAH NEUTRAL IS BACK BABY!
ReplyDeleteGame breaks at the first puzzle with the 3 plants - door keeps opening and closing and can't click on anything.

ReplyDelete"The fix has been completed." seen on https://neutralxe.net/room/
ReplyDeleteYes Neutral confirmed the game should now be working for everyone
ReplyDeleteIt does for me!
DeleteWorked for me, on Chrome on Linux. It's a good game -- I got stuck a couple of times, but stepping away for a day or so was a fix both times.

Wait, I played a long time and made it up to the attic. Then I shut down and came back. The "LOAD" button is inactive. Have I lost all my progress?
ReplyDeleteI think you have to manually save and reload, it doesn't auto-save.
