trace: definitive edition demo [browser]

Colorbomb's excellent escape the room game Trace from a few years ago will be back with new graphics and new puzzles and there is a demo you can play in your browser: Trace: Definitive Edition Demo. You can wishlist the final game on Steam here.

Trace, the game where you wake up locked in a bathroom.
Only the crapper is also locked, well everything is I guess.
The enhanced version is perhaps that your drunk too?
I suspect a long drawn out lover's spat.

Cosmic-er and cosmic-er. Impressive graphics. Not sure how long I could handle that warp effect. Looks promising.

You can turn off that drunk/warp effect! "disable parallax effect" in the settings menu.

How do I get the to open de door with the blue wire attached to it? Which symbol do I have to draw?

Never mind, got it!

Not sure how I missed the paper clue pickup.
Was the free version I played before the full game?
Not going to buy it for a few (annoying) enhancements.

I was kind of excited when I saw this post, but after checking out the demo, now I'm just disappointed. I can't imagine a better way to ruin a really good point 'n' click escape game with long, slow, unskippable cutscenes to shoehorn in some sort of "story".

On top of that, add in a healthy dose of that silly parallax effect -- which can at least be turned off, but who would even want this?; worse UI -- waiting for the zoom effect when taking and examining photos is tedious, and having to open a drawer for inventory items only to have them flop around as you try to grab them is annoying.

Oh well.

Happy to turn off the parallax, otherwise it has a "Mysty" beauty.

hmmm. not sure how i feel about this, i loved the original Trace.

Glad parallax could be turned off. bit of a bug with the red door image, i got it wrong, had a bit extra in addition to the correct shape - but it still opened the door. Then couldn't find the blue clue again, but managed to get it after trial and error.

Guess a bit of a back story is better, and could open up a new world of prequel/sequel games. But i didn't like that the animation in the cut scene was a totally different style to the game. didn't seem very well connected...

Obvs will be playing the full game in steam though, because it's colorbomb. Got to support those developers who make awesome content so they can carry on making more (just like you Bart! x)
